L.A. AND LONG BEACH PORTS REPORT SLUGGISH IMPORTS
The ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach reported sluggish inbound loaded container volumes for the first six months of the year, raising further concerns that volume growth has died in the eastbound transpacific trade this year.
The volume of loaded import containers for both Los Angeles and Long Beach totaled 2.36 million TEUs during the first half of the year, up by 1.7 percent on the same period last year.
Los Angeles attracted a growing share of the static inbound market, handling 1.21 million TEUs in the first six months, an increase of 4 percent. The volume of inbound loaded containers at Long Beach during the same period was 1.15 million TEUs, down 1 percent.
