LAGRANGE SUCCEEDS BRINSON AS CEO OF PORT OF NEW ORLEANS

   The Port of New Orleans' board of commissioners has named Gary P. LaGrange to succeed J. Ron Brinson as president and chief executive officer.

   LaGrange, a 25-year veteran of port planning and management, has been executive director of the Mississippi State Port Authority at Gulfport since August 1999. Prior to that, he was executive director/CEO of the Port of South Louisiana from 1997 to 1999, after serving 21 years as the first executive director of the Port of West St. Mary in Franklin, La.

   Brinson announced in January that he was resigning after leading the Port of new Orleans since 1986. His current contract expires on April 30, 2002.
