Last Baltimore grain conveyor demolished
The Maryland Port Administration leveled an unused grain conveyor at Locust Point in the Port of Baltimore Friday.
Controlled Demolition Inc. used about 150 pounds of explosives to implode the facility, which stopped handling shipments of soybean and other grain in 2001. The Locust Point conveyor was the last working grain pier in the harbor.
The Maryland Port Administration said the removal of the conveyor from the property will “clear the way for other uses.”
