Latin business helps boost Coca Cola
The Coca Cola Company said in its quarterly financial report released Thursday that strong performance in its Latin America operating unit helped to offset declines in North America and Japan and allows the company to post a 9 percent increase in earning for the third quarter.
'We continue to achieve strong growth in emerging markets, including Brazil, China, and Russia, as well as in other important markets across Latin America,' Coca Cola chairman and CEO Neville Isdell said.
Unit case volumes increased 7 percent in the Latin America region, allowing net revenues to increase 20 percent year-over-year and operating income to increase 19 percent. For the year to date in Latin America, both net revenues and operating income are up 20 percent.
In Brazil, unit case volume growth for the quarter was up 11 percent, while in Argentina unit case volume growth was up 14 percent.
