LLOYD TRIESTINO PULLS OUT OF EUROPE/WEST AFRICAN TRADE

LLOYD TRIESTINO PULLS OUT OF EUROPE/WEST AFRICAN TRADE

Lloyd Triestino announced that it is withdrawing from both the Mediterranean/West Africa and northern Europe/West Africa liner trades.

As of mid-March, the Italy-based carrier will stop serving West Africa via Dakar and Abidjan. It had taken slots to West Africa on Mediterranean Shipping Co.’s weekly Mediterranean/Africa MSA service and on its north Europe/Africa/Australia CSA service.

Lloyd Triestino said that it had decided the “rationalization” of its West African services after careful consideration, but did not give a reason for its withdrawal.

Lloyd Triestino said that it will continue to take space to South Africa on both services.

Mediterranean Shipping Co.’s services will continue to call at West African ports. French carrier Delmas continues to take space from MSC to and from West Africa only on the MSA service.
