LLOYD TRIESTINO TAKES DELIVERY OF 5,652-TEU SHIP
Lloyd Triestino, the Italian shipping line owned by Taiwan’s Evergreen group, has named a new 5,652-TEU containership and is taking delivery of another ship of the same type.
On Wednesday, Lloyd Triestino launched the LT Unica, the second of three new post-Panamax vessels ordered from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries’ Kobe shipyard.
Next Wednesday, the Italian carrier expects to take delivery of the LT Usodimare, a sistership built and launched recently.
Both “U-class” vessels belong to a series of post-Panamax containerships ordered by Evergreen and Lloyd Triestino.
The LT Unica will fly the Italian flag. Lloyd Triestino did not say on which route it will operate the new ship.
The LT Usodimare will join the joint China-Europe-Mediterranean service operated jointly by Lloyd Triestino and Evergreen between Asia and Europe. The service employs eight post-Panamax vessels.
The CEM service has a rotation of Shanghai, Ningbo, Yantian, Hong Kong, Singapore, Gioia Tauro, Rotterdam, Bremerhaven, Thamesport, Gioia Tauro, Port Said, Singapore, Kaohsiung, Ishigaki, Shanghai, Ningbo and Yantian.
