Los Angeles inbound box traffic up 14% in March

   The port of Los Angeles' inbound loaded container traffic rose 14 percent in March to about 334,500 TEUs, marking the return of growth at the Californian port.

   For February, the port of Los Angeles reported a 10-percent fall in inbound traffic to about 243,000 TEUs.

   Total port traffic for March was about 611,600 TEUs, 9 percent more than in March 2002. Outbound box volume was up 7 percent to about 115,000 TEUs. Empty movements totaled about 162,000 TEUs, virtually the same as a year earlier.

   The neighboring port of Long Beach has also reported strong growth in inbound container traffic for March.
