LOY APPOINTED COO OF TSA

Retired U.S. Coast Guard Commandant James M. Loy was appointed deputy undersecretary for transportation security and chief operation officer of the Transportation Security Administration.

In this position, Loy will report to John Magaw, undersecretary for transportation security.

“I look forward to bringing my experience in management, security issues and the maritime domain to bear as the TSA grows from its transition phase to maturity,” Loy said. “Along the way, I expect to foster close public-private partnerships with TSA’s industry stakeholders in the longstanding tradition of the Coast Guard.”

The announcement of Loy’s appointment came during the Coast Guard’s change of command ceremony in Washington Thursday. Adm. Thomas Collins as commandant succeeded Loy, a 38-year veteran of the Coast Guard.
