LUFTHANSA CARGO, LANCHILE CARGO PLAN JOINT EUROPE/SOUTH AMERICA LINK
Lufthansa Cargo and LanChile Cargo said Tuesday the carriers will start a joint cargo service between Europe and South America in October.
Lufthansa will offer five flights a week from Frankfurt, Germany, to Sao Paulo, Brazil, including two flights via Rio de Janeiro and two via Buenos Aires.
LanChile Cargo will increase its cargo services to and from Europe from twice (the current amount) to three times. Flights will be routed to Frankfurt rather than Paris-Charles de Gaulle.
Lufthansa will allot capacity in both directions on the Frankfurt/Quito, Frankfurt/Lima and Frankfurt/Santiago de Chile routes, as well as on the Frankfurt/Montevideo and Mexico City/Frankfurt routes.
As part of the negotiation, Lufthansa will serve the East Coast of South America, while LanChile will cover the West Coast.
