LUFTHANSA CARGO PLANS WINTER SEASON RATE INCREASES

Lufthansa Cargo announced that it will raise rates in certain sales areas, effective Oct. 1.

The Frankfurt-based air carrier’s logistics company will raise contractually agreed rates with capacity return options by 6 to 10 percent according to sales area.

Standard cargo rates will also experience increases according to traffic and sales area, Lufthansa said. The standard rates on flights from Germany will rise by about 4.5 percent and by about 4 percent for flights from the rest of Europe. Rates on flights from America will increase by 3 percent and those from Asia will be raised by about 10 percent.

Lufthansa said prices of newly concluded capacity purchase agreements (CPAs) will increase by 2 percent.

“With these long-term basic agreements Lufthansa Cargo is seeking to intensify business relations with its customers,” the airline said. “CPAs settled on the basis of long-term and non-convertible freight capacities and at fixed prices provide Lufthansa Cargo clients with a stable planning foundation for their business operations for a period of at least 12 months.”

In addition, Lufthansa will adjust freight rates for various service packages, such refrigerated air-cargo services.
