LUFTHANSA CARGO, SINGAPORE AIR TO RAISE FUEL SURCHARGE

LUFTHANSA CARGO, SINGAPORE AIR TO RAISE FUEL SURCHARGE

Lufthansa Cargo and Singapore Airlines Ltd. said Monday they would raise their fuel surcharges to 15 cents per kilogram in March.

Singapore Airlines' surcharge will be increased from 5 cents per kilo, effective March 1.

Lufthansa Cargo's surcharge, effective March 1, is based on a fuel price index implemented by the logistics arm of the Lufthansa Group in 2002. The surcharge will be raised from 0.10 euro as a result of the index exceeding 165 points for two consecutive weeks. The surcharge would revert to 0.10 euro if the index fell below 145 points for two consecutive weeks. Should fuel prices continue to rise, a surcharge of 0.20 euro would be implemented if the index exceeded 190 points for two consecutive weeks.

The index is published online at http://www.lufthansa-cargo.com.

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines and Northwest Airlines also announced fuel surcharge increases last week.
