Lufthansa, Northwest hike fuel surcharges again
For the second month running both Lufthansa Cargo and Northwest Airlines Cargo said they will raise their fuel surcharges.
Germany’s Lufthansa Cargo is raising its fuel surcharge to 0.55 euros (66 cents) from 0.50 euros (60 cents) per kilogram of actual freight weight, effective Oct. 17.
Northwest Airlines Cargo will place a 5-cent-per-kilogram increase on its fuel surcharge to 55 cents per kilogram for most international shipments originating in the United States, while surcharges for domestic shipments will increase 2 cents to 23 cents per pound, both effective Oct. 18.
