LYKES, TMM, APL ADD CAPACITY TO ASIA/MEXICO SERVICE
Lykes Lines, TMM Lines and APL are expanding the capacity of their direct, weekly service between Asia and Mexico at the end of this month.
Lykes and TMM, two shipping lines owned by the CP Ships group, are replacing three vessels of about 2,000-TEU capacity in the service with ships of 3,266 TEUs chartered from Taiwanese carrier Yangming Marine Transport.
The rotation of the service remains Los Angeles, Ensenada (Mexico), Manzanillo (Mexico), Yokohama, Kobe, Hong Kong, Kaohsiung, Busan, Kobe, Yokohama, Los Angeles, Ensenada and Manzanillo.
According to ComPair Data, the global liner shipping database, the one-way capacity of the joint service will increase by 33 percent as a result of the fleet change, to 139,000 TEUs a year.
