MacGregor receives largest crane order
MacGregor has received a $37 million contract to build cranes for 26 German containerships under construction in South Korea’s Hyundai Mipo Dockyard.
MacGregor said it’s the largest order ever awarded to the Swedish ship crane manufacturer.
The so-called “GL” cranes will be placed on 20 1,800-TEU ships being built for German shipowner Reederei Claus-Peter Offen and six similar size vessels for Conti Group. The ships are scheduled to enter the charter market between 2007 and 2008.
Each 28,200 deadweight-ton containership will include GL cranes with lifting capacities of up to 45 tons. The contract covers the crane pedestals and installation, MacGregor said.
