MAERSK BRINGS YARD CRANES TO PORT OF OAKLAND
Maersk Pacific has entered into an agreement with the port of Oakland to operate transtainer-type yard container cranes in the port.
Transtainer-type yard cranes, required to move or stack grounded containers in terminals, are already used in other terminals in the port of Oakland.
The backlog and resulting congestion created by the terminal closure in October, the peak season volume and slower terminal productivity forced Maersk Sealand to switch from a wheeled operation to grounded operations in the port of Oakland.
