MAERSK DROPS SOUTH AFRICA CALL FROM EUROPE/WEST AFRICA LINK
Maersk Sealand has dropped direct calls at Cape Town on its weekly Europe/West Africa “Lisa” string. Sister company Safmarine Container Lines takes space on the service.
Northbound calls at Lagos have also been dropped while a call at Abidjan has been introduced. The changes enable the service to reduce the number of deployed vessels from eight to seven.
The “Lisa” service now uses seven vessels of around 1,400 TEUs and has a revised port rotation of Vigo, Leixoes, Lisbon, Algeciras, Abidjan, Pointe Noire, Luanda, Luderitz, Walvis Bay, Cotonou, Algeciras, Vigo, Leixoes and Lisbon.
