Maersk, Safmarine route “Samba” round Africa
Maersk Sealand and sister company Safmarine Container Lines are amending their joint weekly East Coast South America/South Africa/Middle East “Samba” service to return via Suez and the Mediterranean.
Additional calls at the Spanish port of Algeciras are being added in June. Calls at Salalah and westbound calls at Durban are being dropped from the port rotation.
The “Samba” service uses eight ships of 1,500-2,000 TEUs and will have a revised port rotation of Santos, Itajai, Paranagua, Rio Grande, Cape Town, Port Elizabeth, Jebel Ali, Dammam, Algeciras and back to Santos.
