MAERSK SEALAND, P&O NEDLLOYD RAISE MED/U.S. WESTBOUND RATES
The United States South Europe Conference, a rate agreement between Maersk Sealand and P&O Nedlloyd, said that it will increase westbound tariff rates, effective Sept. 15.
The westbound rate rises are $160 per 20-foot container and $200 per 40-footer.
The conference said that the measure is “aimed at improving the general viability of serving this trading area.”
Eastbound tariff rates remain unchanged.
The transatlantic trade from northern Europe and the Mediterranean continues to see increasing westbound cargo volumes.
