MAERSK SEALAND SETS OCEANIA SERVICE
Maersk Sealand set the maiden voyage dates of its new Oceania Direct service linking the U.S. East, Gulf and West coasts directly with Australia and New Zealand.
“In the past, we served Oceania via transshipment in Asia. Now, the timing is right to launch a direct service that synchronizes with our vessels serving other trade lanes,” said Henning B. Nielsen, director of Oceania services for Maersk Inc., in Madison, N.J.
The service rotation is Philadelphia; Freeport; Houston; Manzanillo; Balboa; Long Beach; Auckland; Melbourne; Sydney; Brisbane; New Plymouth; Timaru; Tauranga; Balboa; Manzanillo; Freeport; Philadelphia.
Maiden voyage dates for the M/V Marivia are Philadelphia, Oct. 4; Houston, Oct. 10; and Long Beach, Oct. 23.
The new Oceania service also offers express transit times, including Long Beach to Auckland in 14 days and to Melbourne in 18 days.
