Maersk Sealand switches Dominican Republic ports, adds Ecuador port
Maersk Sealand is altering two services in the U.S./Caribbean and Panama/Ecuador trades.
In the weekly U.S./Caribbean Hispaniola service, the Danish mega-carrier is moving southbound calls in the Dominican Republic from Caucedo to Rio Haina.
The Hispaniola service uses two 519-TEU ships and will have a revised port rotation of Miami; Rio Haina; Manzanillo, Panama; Rio Haina; Port-au-Prince, Haiti; and back to Miami. The vessel “Rubin” will make the first southbound call at Rio Haina Oct. 12.
The weekly Ecuador service, which connects Maersk Sealand’s U.S. West and East Coast services via the Panama port of Balboa, is adding calls at Esmereldas, Ecuador.
The new port rotation will be Balboa, Esmereldas, Manta, Guayaquil and back to Balboa. The 1,740-TEU vessel “Maersk Vilnius” will make the first departure from Esmereldas Oct. 30.
