Maersk to add German port, capacity to Europe/Morocco link

Maersk Sealand will add the German port of Bremerhaven and increase the vessel capacity on its joint weekly North Europe/Morocco KNSM service with new sister company P&O Nedlloyd.

From the end of November, two 400-TEU-plus vessels will replace slower and smaller ships, and the service will have a revised port rotation of Bremerhaven, Casablanca, Agadir, Rotterdam and back to Bremerhaven.

The service will have a transit time of five days between Bremerhaven and Casablanca, and four days from Agadir to Rotterdam. The Danish mega-carrier said the revised service will offer more than 200 TEUs of refrigerated cargo capacity per week in each direction.

By adding calls at Bremerhaven the KNSM service connects with Maersk Sealand’s Scandinavia and Baltic feeder systems.

Maersk Sealand and P&O Nedlloyd will market the KNSM service separately until mid-February, from thereafter it will become part of the new Maersk Line network.
