MANFREDI MOTOR TRANSIT FORMS LOGISTICS UNIT
Manfredi Motor Transit Co., a national liquid bulk carrier, has formed a separate corporation, Distribution Technologies, to provide integrated logistics services.
Distribution Technologies, or DisTech, will be based in Cleveland and will be created from companies that formerly comprised Manfredi's specialty operating group: Dedicated Transport, a contract trucking service; Manfredi Logistics Solutions, a specialty bulk delivery service; and Manfredi Special Services, an intermediate bulk container tote cleaning and repair service.
“By creating DisTech, we feel that we can more aggressively grow our portfolio of products and services in response to customer demand for more inclusive logistics solutions,” said Rich Manfredi, who will remain chief executive officer of Manfredi Motor Freight, as well as assuming the role of CEO of DisTech.
Frank Wagner, president of Dedicated Transport since its inception in 1988 and a 35-year industry veteran, will become president and chief operating officer of DisTech.
Tom McDermott, executive vice president, has been named to succeed Wagner as president of Dedicated Transport. He joined the company in 1989 after 10 years at Leaseway Transportation in numerous sales and marketing positions.
Tim Jarus has been promoted to vice president, operations for Dedicated Transport. He joined the company in 1995 as manager of logistics services and was promoted to director of operations in 1997.
