MarAd approves 2 vessel flag transfers
The U.S. Maritime Administration has approved the transfer of two U.S.-flag tank vessels to the Marshall Islands registry and flag.
The tankers “Polar Alaska” and “Polar California,” operated by Polar Tankers of Bartlesville, Okla., were sold to Norwegian operator Aker Floating Production ASA. Each 900-foot tank vessel has a gross tonnage of 83,675.
Under the 1916 Shipping Act, MarAd must approve transfer requests of U.S.-flag vessels to overseas registries.
