MARAD APPROVES TANKER TRANSFER TO FOREIGN FLAG
The U.S. Maritime Administration approved the transfer of the U.S.-flag, 21,297-gross-ton tanker “Houston” to the Marshall Islands registry and flag.
Houston-based El Paso Tankships USA Co. will maintain ownership of the 30-year-old tanker.
Under section 9 of the 1916 Shipping Act, MarAd must approve the transfer and scrapping of all U.S.-flag vessels.
