MarAd approves vessel flag transfer, two scrappings

   The U.S. Maritime Administration has approved Seattle-based Crowley Marine Services’ request to sell the 7,979-gross-ton tank barge “Barge 102” to Farham Enterprises of Panama for transfer to the Panamanian flag registry.

   The barge was built in Galveston, Texas, in 1970.

   The agency also approved Jefferson, Ind.-based American Commercial Lines’ request to sell the 1,083-gross-ton tank barge “N.M.S. No. 1802” and the 1,919-gross-ton tank barge “N.M.S. No. 3100” to Fransisco Javier Carstensen Lanz of Mexico for scrapping in Mexico.

   The “N.M.S. No. 1802” was built in St. Louis in 1975. The “N.M.S. No. 3100” was built in St. Louis in 1972.

   Under section 9 of the 1916 Shipping Act, MarAd must approve U.S.-flag vessel transfers to overseas registries and scrappings.
