Maritime attorney Fred Fisher dies in California
R. Frederic 'Fred' Fisher, a nationally known admiralty attorney in San Francisco, died Aug. 16 at his home in Inverness, Calif. He was 68.
Fisher was a partner in the firm of Sher & Blackwell from 1994 until his retirement in 1999. He represented ocean carriers, and argued maritime cases before courts at all levels, including the California and U.S. Supreme Courts. He also served as chairman of the environmental law firm Earthjustice in the late 1990s.
Survivors include his wife, Susan, and sons Matthew and Jonathan. A memorial service will be held in San Francisco in early September. For more information, contact David F. Smith, (202) 463-2509.
