Masters to head USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service
Barbara Masters has been appointed to administrator of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service.
FSIS oversees the regulation of meat, poultry and processed egg products, which, according to the agency, account for about 40 percent of the American food dollar.
Prior to her appointment, Masters served as acting administrator of FSIS. She began her career with FSIS in 1989 as a veterinary medical officer near Hot Springs, Ark.
