MATSON LOWERS FUEL SURCHARGE
Matson Navigation Co. will reduce its fuel surcharge from 4.25 percent to 3.25 percent for shipments moving between the U.S. mainland, Hawaii and Guam services, effective Nov. 25.
The carrier said that the surcharge change follows the recent trend of decreasing fuel prices.
Matson first implemented a 1.75 percent fuel surcharge on Oct. 11, 1999. The surcharge was raised to 2.25 percent on Feb. 20, 2000 and increased to 3.25 on April 2, 2000. The current 4.25 percent surcharge was implemented on Oct. 15, 2000.
“We will continue to monitor fuel costs and adjust the surcharge accordingly,” a spokesman for Matson said.
