MCHUGH RETIRES FROM GOVERNMENT SERVICE

Mary Lou McHugh has retired as assistant deputy undersecretary of defense transportation policy for the U.S. Defense Department.

McHugh, well known in military and private-sector transportation circles, served 35 years in the federal government. On three separate occasions since 1969, she held management positions at the Military Traffic Management Command. Her last assignment with the Alexandria, Va.-based agency was from 1986 to 1993 as senior transportation advisor and deputy chief of staff for operations.

Some of McHugh’s most recent achievements were the automation of the military’s freight payments to carriers and significant improvements to the handling of military personnel’s personal property moves.

McHugh said she will move to Singapore with her husband, Bob Keltz, in early January to begin a new civilian transportation career. Keltz, who also recently retired from the U.S. government, will work for Sikorsky Aircraft in Singapore.
