Menzies Aviation picks up two Australian cargo-handling contracts
Menzies Aviation Group’s Australian operation was awarded cargo-handling contracts from Air Canada and Gulf Air.
The three-year contracts come after Menzies’ opening of a new freight center in Sydney’s Kingsford Smith Airport.
Menzies will provide cargo handling for Air Canada’s daily Airbus A340 flights from Sydney to Toronto via Honolulu. In addition, Air Canada operates three Boeing 767 passenger and cargo flights per week during the peak Australian summer season.
Gulf Air has contracted with Menzies to handle freight carried on its daily A340 services that link Sydney to Singapore and Bahrain.
Both Air Canada and Gulf Air are expected to carry up to 15 tons per flight on their A340 planes.
In addition to these two contracts, Menzies’ Australian operation picked up a three-year cargo-handling contract last month from AirCalin for cargo handling in Sydney and Melbourne airports. In Sydney, Menzies also handles cargo for Asiana Airlines, Austrian Airlines, Cargolux and United Parcel Service.
