MERCURY AIR LAUNCHES SUBSIDIARY, CHICAGO/GUADALAJARA CARGO SERVICE
Mercury Air Group said Thursday it has started a new subsidiary, Air Mercury, to provide air cargo alternatives for airlines and freight forwarders.
The company also said Air Mercury will add round-trip cargo routes between Chicago and Guadalajara, Mexico, six days a week, starting March 2.
Air Mercury will use available cargo capacity aboard scheduled commercial airline flights and markets that space to targeted freight forwarders. By providing an alternative outlet for unused cargo capacity, Air Mercury will offer freight forwarders more distribution options, Mercury Air Group said.
Air Mercury has been certified by the U.S. Department of Transportation as a Part 135 Air Cargo Carrier, and is an airline member of the International Air Transportation Association.
Los Angeles-based Mercury Air Group operates four business segments worldwide: Mercury Air Centers, Mercury Fuel, Maytag Aircraft Corp. and Mercury Air Cargo Inc.
