Miami, Latin America boost American Airlines

American Airlines parent company AMR Corp. said in its third quarter earning report released Wednesday that strong performance in Maim and Latin America helped the company achieve a $15 million profit in spite of problems related to the London terrorist threat and new security requirements related to that incident.

Chief financial officer Thomas Horton said Latin America was 'particularly strong,' with unit revenue up 13.1 percent with a capacity decline of 3.1 percent, leading to an improved yield of 9.5 percent.

Miami International Airport is American's hub for Latin America and the Caribbean. American is the largest carrier at MIA.
