Military Sealift Command awards $5.2 million contract to 3PSC
The U.S. Navy’s Military Sealift Command has awarded a one-year $5.2-million contract to 3PSC to provide operation and maintenance services for two of its large cargo ships.
The contract includes four one-year options. If all these options are exercised, the total value of the contract will exceed $27.2 million, the Military Sealift Command said.
The two large, medium-speed, roll-on/roll-off ships (LMSRs), the “USNS Gordon” and “USNS Gilliland,” are part of the Military Sealift Command’s 19 LMSR fleet. Each vessel can carry more than 300,000 square feet of equipment and supplies to deployed U.S. forces overseas.
The Military Sealift Command operates more than 110 noncombatant, civilian-crewed ships that provide replenishment to naval vessels and other related services.
The contract to Cape Canaveral, Fla.-based 3PSC was awarded through the Military Sealift Command’s Small Business Utilization Program.
Patriot Contract Services, which lost the contract for the two LMSRs to 3PSC, has filed a protest with the Small Business Administration.
