MINETA MAKES FAA APPOINTMENTS

   U.S. Transportation Secretary Norman Mineta has named Brian Riley the Federal Aviation Administration’s chief liaison with government and industry, and named David Broome as his deputy.

   Riley will serve principal advisor to FAA administrator Jane Garvey, and on matters concerning relations with Congress, aviation industry groups and other governmental organizations.

   Riley has been director of the FAA’s budget office since July 1999. He also was the primary liaison between the FAA and congressional appropriations committees.

   Broome has worked as a senior legislative assistant for Sen. Bill Frist, R-Tenn. since 1995, and was a staff assistant to the U.S. Senate sergeant-at-arms from 1994 to 1995.
