MITAGS/PMI upgrade security officer training program
The Maritime Institute of Technology & Graduate Studies and Pacific Maritime Institute has upgraded its three-day security officer training program to include new Coast Guard and international maritime security regulations.
The Homeland Security Department is expected to implement final port state control measures on Nov. 25, which include tracking the performance of all owners, operators, port facility managers, flag administrators and security organization.
The MITAGS/PMI program also incorporates the International Maritime Organization amendments for international ship and port security, which take effect in July 2004. “Many facility, company and vessel owners/operators may not be aware of the new requirements,” the institutes said.
