Mitsui O.S.K. Lines upgrades IT system for logistics
Mitsui O.S.K. Lines has introduced an upgraded information technology system at its subsidiary MOL Logistics (Japan) that is destined to be deployed in its logistics operations worldwide.
MOL Logistics (Japan) has started phase one of the “Aurora 2” system for its import operations. It succeeds the “Aurora 1” used for over 13 years by MOL Logistics (Japan).
The new system provides additional features to help improve the management of logistics activities and operations. In particular, it utilizes a hybrid structure of PC servers and general-purpose machines, and shares information with clients, warehousing companies, and freight forwarders via the Internet. It also enables client-by-client profit control and the analysis of results of each sales division).
Next spring, the IT system will be rolled out for exports of MOL Logistics (Japan).
Masaya Yamada, manager, network management group at the logistics business division of Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, said that he expects the IT system to be introduced in the group’s affiliates outside Japan within the next two years.
