Miyahara to become president of NYK group

   Koji Miyahara will to become president of the Nippon Yusen Kaisha group on April 1.

   Miyahara, 58, is currently senior managing director of NYK. His promotion to the most senior executive position of the NYK group is expected to be confirmed formally on Jan. 29 at NYK’s meeting of its board of directors.

   Miyahara will succeed Takao Kusakari, who will become chairman of NYK.

   Miyahara joined NYK in 1970 and has climbed the management ladders of the group, assuming the positions of general manager of the liner coordination group in 1999, manager in charge of the container trade management group’s North America business in 2000, director of NYK in 2000, managing director in 2002 and senior managing director in June 2003.
