MOL breaks ground for Jaxport terminal
Officials from Mitsui O.S.K. Line and the Port of Jacksonville held groundbreaking ceremonies Wednesday at the site of a major new terminal that will be built for the Japan-based carrier.
MOL deputy president Hiroyuki Sato and Jaxport executive director Rick Ferrin were joined by Jacksonville Mayor John Payton and other local and industry officials at the groundbreaking and contract signing ceremony for the new facility, which is expected to open in late 2007 or early 2008.
'The new terminal will continue to offer more competitive services as the most efficient terminal on the East Coast, utilizing Jacksonville's well-developed railroad connection and (terminal operator) TraPac's advanced technologies, which have earned a reputation on the West Coast. We look forward to contributing to the growth of this community,' said Sato.
