MOL CHAIRMAN TO HEAD NEW JAPAN POSTAL CORPORATION
Masaharu Ikuta, chairman of MOL Ltd., has been named to head a new public corporation to run Japan's postal services.
The new entity, to be established in April, combines the three state-run postal services of mail delivery, postal savings and 'kampo' life insurance.
'I will do my utmost to lead the planning corporation toward serving the best interests of the public,' said Ikuta, chairman of MOL Ltd. since June 2000. He served as president of the shipping company from 1994 to 2000.
He said he plans to appoint private-sector personnel to senior positions at the new public entity.
