MOL enhances on-line access to service contracts

MOL and GT Nexus have announced the general market availability of Contract Viewer.

With this “on-demand” solution, MOL’s shipper customers can go online to access their fully digitized MOL service contracts, which include real-time rates, surcharges, service terms and amendments.

In 2003, MOL (America), along with California-based GT Nexus, developed the on-demand GT Nexus Global Price Management System to manage its confidential service contracts. MOL has since used this technology to standardize and automate its contract administration by using a centralized rate repository system, structured and normalized data across all contracts, establish a Web interface, introduce direct filing with the Federal Maritime Commission, and integrate its booking and documentation systems for auto-rating.

Rather than scanning paper-based contracts, complex tariffs or calling a customer service representative, MOL’s shippers can log on to the system with a Web browser to access their contracts. The MOL Contract Viewer tool pulls fully calculated rate information directly from the MOL Global Price Management Platform. Advanced search tools allow shippers to quickly retrieve rates based on effective date, commodity, geography, and equipment, MOL said.

“This capability has proven to be a key service differentiator for us,” said Rich Hiller, MOL’s vice president of transpacific trade management, in a statement. “Customers can now get accurate rate information from their MOL contracts in seconds over the Web.”
