MOL expands intra-South America liner services
Mitsui O.S.K. Lines is expanding its coastal services covering the east and west coasts of South America to take advantage of expected economic growth in the region.
Until now, MOL has offered a service between South America’s east and west coasts as part of its deep-sea, monthly South America/Oceania service.
MOL said that it is now upgrading the frequency of its coastal service to a nine-day interval, under a new arrangement and in cooperation with Buenos Aires-based Maruba S.C.A.
From the end of this month, the Japanese carrier will provide intra-South America liner services through its deep-sea Asia-East Coast of South America service and through Maruba’s Argentine-West Coast of South America service.
The South American port rotation for the MOL-operated service will be: Santos, Buenos Aires , Montevideo, Rio Grande, Sao Francisco do Sul, Paranagua, Santos and Rio de Janeiro. For Maruba-operated vessels, the rotation will be: Montevideo, Buenos Aires, San Antonio, Callao, Guayaquil, Callao, San Antonio and Montevideo.
MOL said that it will also move cargo to and from the north Brazil ports of Fortaleza, Suape, Salvador and Vitoria under a partnership with Navegacao Vale do Rio Doce S.A.
