MOL, “K” Line to link up on Asia-South America service
Japanese ocean carriers Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) and Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha ('K' Line) on Monday announced a New Andes joint service that will link Asia, Mexico, and the west coast of South America in April.
The two companies, along with P&O Nedlloyd, have served that trade route through a joint service that will be dissolved in April. P&O was recently purchased by Maersk.
MOL and 'K' Line will provide weekly service with nine containerships in the 2,000-TEU class, the companies said in a statement. They are now selecting calling ports for the new service, with the goal of connecting the rapidly growing Shanghai and Chinese market with established ports on the Mexican and South American west coasts.
