MSC dropping Oakland, Qingdao from New Orient Express
Mediterranean Shipping Co. is dropping calls at Oakland and Qingdao westbound from its weekly transpacific New Orient Express, allowing the Swiss carrier to reduce the number of ships deployed on the loop from six to five.
The vessel “MSC Melissa” is scheduled to make the final calls at Oakland and Qingdao on April 11 and April 25, respectively. The change also sees MSC include an eastbound call at Busan in Korea.
The revised New Orient Express will use five ships of about 6,700 TEUs calling Busan, Yantian, Shanghai, Ningbo, Yokohama, Long Beach, before returning to Busan.
