MSC hikes rates for Asia-bound cargo
Mediterranean Shipping Co. announced a general rate increase for cargo moving from the United States to Asia, effective Jan. 1.
The increase of $150 for 20-foot containers and $200 for 40-foot containers moving from ports on all coasts and inland points, applies to all cargo, including exempt commodities except refrigerated cargo.
For reefer cargo the increase will be $190 for 20-foot containers and $250 for cargo moving from West Coast ports and intermodal points moving through West Coast ports. For cargo moving from East and Gulf coasts ports or through them from inland destinations, the increase will be $225 for 20-foot and $300 for 40-foot containers.
