MSC reshuffles Asia/Europe services
Geneva-based Mediterranean Shipping Co. is making changes to the rotation of its “Silk” and “Dragon” container services connecting Asia and Europe to coincide with the launch of its weekly “Lion” service in late April.
Mediterranean Shipping will stop calling at Qingdao on its “Silk” service, while the “Dragon” service will hand its Xiamen call over to the new “Lion” service.
Employing nine vessels of 5,000-TEU capacities, the “Lion” service will have a rotation of Busan, Shanghai, Xiamen, Hong Kong, Chiwan, Singapore, Antwerp, Hamburg, Bremerhaven, Antwerp, Singapore, Chiwan and Busan.
In North Europe, the “Lion” service will take over calls in Hamburg and Bremerhaven from the “Silk” service, allowing the latter to add a call in Rotterdam.
Mediterranean Shipping is also reshuffling the port rotation of its “Dragon” service in the Mediterranean.
The “Lion” service will increase from three to four the number of weekly services the carrier operates in the Asia/Europe container trade.
