Medway will introduce a freight rail service between Spain and Portugal, expected to begin April 4.
Mediterranean Shipping Co. (MSC) said Medway, its logistics arm on the Iberian peninsula, will offer a freight rail service connecting Seville, Spain and Sines, Portugal.
The daily train service connecting Sines and Seville’s inland port Puerto de Sevilla is expected to launch April 4.
Shippers will be able to obtain customs clearance for cargo at the inland port before onward carriage to Sines and Atlantic markets.
The service will “provide better connectivity and improved transit times for exporters in various southern and western regions of Spain seeking to reach markets in the Americas and northern Europe,” MSC said. “It will also greatly appeal to international importers supplying Spanish markets.”
