New Intermarine ship calls New Orleans
Heavy-lift specialist Intermarine said Industrial Dawn, recently called the Port of New Orleans on its maiden voyage.
The vessel loaded project cargoes and containers for the North Coast of South America. The heaviest piece was a 320-metric-ton reactor.
The Industrial Dawn is one of six 8,000-deadweight-ton sister vessels that feature dual 250-metric-ton cranes that may be combined for up to 500-ton lifts.
With an overall length of 120 meters and beam of 20 meters, the ships have the same hull design as the seven Century-class vessels that are also operated by Intermarine services.
The new ships incorporate enhanced cargo handling capability and increased lifting capacity. When this order is completed in 2008, Intermarine's service fleet will feature 13 of the versatile mid-sized Century and D Class ships.
