New Korean terminal opens in Pyungtaek
Pyungtaek Container Terminal Co. Ltd., the operator of the fifth berth of the container terminal in Pyungtaek, a Korean port located south of Seoul on the Yellow Sea, has opened its facility.
The fifth berth was completed in December and now has two gantry cranes and three transfer cranes. The sixth berth, also to be operated by Pyungtaek Container Terminal, is scheduled to be completed in August 2006. Each berth will handle up to 500,000 TEUs a year.
Hanjin Shipping, one of the shareholders of the terminal company, said Pyungtaek Container Terminal is expected to contribute to the Sino-Korean trade.
