Nissan ships cars through Jacksonville to Middle East
Nissan North America will export up to 20,000 Nissan Altimas to the Middle East each year from the Port of Jacksonville, marking the first time U.S.-produced vehicles have been exported in high volume from the port to a destination other than Puerto Rico.
More than 1,200 Altimas manufactured in Smyrna, Tenn., have been exported since April, the Jacksonville Port Authority said in a statement. More than 540,000 vehicles moved through the port in 2003.
