NOL’S TANKER ARM CHRISTENS ITS FIRST VLCC
American Eagle Tankers Inc., the tanker shipping subsidiary of Singapore-based Neptune Orient Lines, has christened its first very large crude carrier, the “Eagle Virginia.”
The new ship is the first of two 319,000-deadweight-tons VLCCs to be delivered to American Eagle Tankers by Hyundai Heavy Industries this year.
Neptune Orient Lines said that the addition of VLCCs to American Eagle Tankers’ fleet signals the company’s move to provide customers with more comprehensive long-haul services.
American Eagle Tankers’ fleet currently comprises mainly Aframax tankers, which have capacities of about 100,000 deadweight tons. They are used for the medium and short-haul transportation of oil.
